How to add clickable links on WordPress
A link is a word, group of words, or image that readers can click on to go to a new Web page. Adding outside links to your blog is a great way to provide additional information for the reader. WordPress allows you to convert any text or image on your website quickly with a built-in shortcut that saves you from learning to type any HTML into your blog.
Log in to your WordPress account through your website. Your Dashboard will appear.
Open the page or post you want to modify. The page editor appears with all of your text and images on screen. Make sure you are in Visual Mode. If you are in Text Mode, you will see a lot of HTML. Click “Visual” in the toolbar to toggle back to Visual Mode.
Use your cursor to highlight the text you wish to convert into a clickable link. You can also click on an image. Click the “Insert/Edit Link” symbol at the top of the editing box. The Insert/Edit Link dialog box appears.
Type the URL of the link you wish to include in the “URL” text box. Make sure to include the entire URL such as “http://www.mysite.com.” Type a title for the link in the “Title” text box. This text will appear when the reader hovers over the link. If you want the link to open a new page instead of closing your page first, check inside the check box labeled, “Open Link in a New Window/Tab.” When you are finished, click “Add Link.”
The dialog box closes and returns you to the editing window. Your text now is a link contained inside an anchor tag. Click “Preview Changes” from the right sidebar. A new window opens and displays a preview of your page. Click the new link you added to check if it works correctly. Return to the edit page and click “Publish.” WordPress immediately publishes your changes.
