How to log in to my WordPress website without plugins
If you have installed your WordPress website locally or installed it through cPanel, you can choose your administrator username and password.
It is very crucial to set the correct data and also choose a valid email address, in case you need to reset your credentials.
Preferably a blank email, which will be used only for your website. Otherwise, you are risking searching emails in a sea of spam.
Once you have created your WordPress login credentials, you will need to access your website from the WordPress dashboard.
Simply use this URL structure – mydomain.com/wp-admin.
Remove the part where it says mydomain.com and use your website’s domain name, otherwise, it will not work for you.
Now that you can access your WordPress dashboard, you will need to enter your credentials, which were created when installing WordPress.
If you do not remember your credentials, you can use the forgot password option and recover them.
In case the forgotten password does not help, you can simply delete your WordPress website and install it once again.
Why is WordPress using a dashboard for logging in?
To put it simply, WordPress has been created to have a back-end login, which does not interfere with the user experience.
Once a successful login has been made, you will be able to access the WordPress admin dashboard.
Depending on your WordPress user role, given by the administrator, you will have the ability to make edits to the website.
In this case, you as an administrator will have full access to edit the WordPress website like:
- Change themes and activate them.
- Download and activate WordPress plugins
- Create or delete WordPress pages.
- Create or delete WordPress posts.
Can we change the default WordPress login URL?
The WordPress login URL can be absolutely changed with any type of plugin or without plugins but requires editing the wp-login.php file.
Make sure to backup your WordPress website before changing the default WordPress login, because you may break your website and there is no turning back.
If you feel unsure about making changes on the WordPress backend, you can easily use a plugin for changing the default login URL for WordPress.
There are hundreds of plugins available for these types of cases and their functionality is extended.
This means that you can easily edit the WordPress login URL and protect your default login URL from hackers.
As a piece of advice, never redirect your default login URL in WordPress. Otherwise, you will be leading hackers and spammers directly to the desired spot.

The WordPress login page design can be changed to whatever you like. If you have coding knowledge you can directly make changes from the functions.php WordPress file.
