Getting your website ranked high in the search engines is quite hard, but high rewarding when you have to optimize website for search engines.
When you have a fully optimized website and give it time to be crawled by the Google bots, not only you will get the good 1 to 5 position in the search rankings, but you will be getting high traffic.
A good idea to optimize website for search engines is when you have not yet uploaded your website, so you can be extra careful.
That does not mean that if your website has been already uploaded, you will not be getting a chance to optimize it.
To optimize a website for search engines you will need to submit your website to Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo etc.
After this you will need to check the website’s SEO score and see if your website has broken, missing or incorrect links.
Not only it checks for your backlinks, but also for missing H1 tags, Do-follow/No-follow links or missing alt text.
Submitting website to search engines for better optimization
Whether you had started or thinking to start with your website optimization, submitting it to the search engines should be your first priority.
When you optimize website for search engines and have it submitted, you will start getting bots that will crawl your website.
These are not the type of bots that will destroy your website’s optimization.
Their work is to crawl each of your pages and to check where are the links you had placed, taking them to.
The whole idea of these bots are to imitate the user behaviour and see whether your website deserves the high place or not.
When your website is getting crawled, it passes the results back to the main control (for example Google) and displays the results in your dashboard.
As a result of this crawling each of your pages, products or posts are being indexed in the search engine with a ranking on the search that has been done.
If you are using WordPress you can take your sitemap from a plugin like RankMath, Yoast or any other SEO plugin.
Submitting website to Google
If you are new to the whole process in submitting a sitemap to Google, then you are in good hands.
The process is so simple that you will need to do it only once, but updating sitemap is recommended to be done after you had added another post, product or page to your website.
For submitting your website to Google all you need to do is navigate to Google Search Console and click Start Now.
If you are not signed in your Google Account, you will need to sign in to add your website and submit sitemap.
After you had successfully logged into Google, you will need to verify property.
Said in an easier way. You need to prove that this is your website.
When everything has been finished you will need to submit your sitemap.
Submitting website to Bing
If you already had added your website to Google Search Console, then you will not need to worry about doing the process of verifying ownership all over again.
One of the things you can do is just go to the option Import your websites from GSC and click Import.
The other option is to Add your website manually to the search engine.
Submitting website to Yahoo
When submitting your website to Yahoo, it would be best if you had already added your website to the previous search engines.
This will save you tons of times, because the list was not made randomly.
These search engines were given in a chained list, so you can first add your website to Google, then to Bing and when you come across Yahoo, you will just need to add website through Bing.
Adding your website can be done by going to Yahoo. After this you will be redirected to Bing.
Click the option to import your website from Bing and you are ready to go.
Submitting website DuckDuckGo
DuckDuckGo does not need you to submit a sitemap or verify site property. It automatically adds your website’s posts and pages to the search engines.
All you need to do is add your website to Bing and Yahoo. After your sitemap has been accepted and your pages crawled, they will be added to DuckDuckGo.
As you may be wondering DuckDuckGo is another widely used search engine, which does not track your search data or results and sell all of this information to advertisers.
Many of the people had moved to this search engine and intend to use it.
Taking your time to submit your sitemap to Bing and Yahoo will be high rewarding for your website and receive positive rankings for your keywords.
In order to have a better crawlability to your website it would be best to add your sitemap to your robots.txt.
Websites such as DuckDuckGo and Ask.
A perfect example of your sitemap should be something like this :
This way the search engines, which automatically grab your pages and posts information, can easily find your website and rank it.
If you have not done this, it would be best to do it now.
No site owner, guru or a pro would ever give you out such ideas.
The reason behind this is that they do not want you to optimize your website for search engines and outrank them.
It does not matter how many posts you have. You can still optimize websites and outrank.
All it matters is the content and how to write your contents.
Analysing website SEO Score and optimizing for better results
A good tool that I would personally recommend would be SiteChecker Pro.
What SiteChecker does is to check if your website is well optimized and has no errors, which could result in bad user experience.
What does SiteChecker show you?
At first when you analyse your website SiteChecker Pro will show how many Page-level issues you have.
There are 3 types of page-level issues in SiteChecker.
And they are:
- Critical – Must fix issues or your website will continue suffering from bad user experience and will not be optimized for search engines or users.
- Warnings – Shows where you are missing information and would be good to add. Checking this information will get your scores up to the top and help you receive traffic.
- Notices – These notices in SiteChecker Pro do not show you something bad. They just point out some elements of your website than can be optimized, but are not critical.
Analysing and fixing these issues is not hard, as SiteChecker Pro shows all the mistakes you had done on your website.
Sometimes it may be the H1 or H2 tags that we will talk about later or maybe you have broken links, which need to be fixed immediately.
Sometimes you may also see Twitter Card Incomplete, but this is not an issue that needs fixing.
Although it is recommended to have your Twitter Card information completed, so your SEO plugin or website does not choose the best information for you.
It is best when you choose the information that would need to be displayed.
Optimizing website’s header structure for better user experience
Optimizing the website’s header structure is a must when optimizing your website for search engines and rankings.
Not only you need to have a good level of headers, but they need to be showing titles, which are relevant to the topic you are writing on.
First of all the structure of a website should start with an H1 tag in the title, but should not be used more than once.
After your title, it would be best to include some information in the white space you have.
The best information to be filled, would be what are you going to talk about?
After having 100 to 200 words written you should start with your H2 tags.
A well optimized website is having around 3 or 4 H2 tags, which are containing at least 200 words each.
The purpose of the H2 tags is to keep the answers to each question asked.
If your blog post is about something that needs more explanation, then it would be best to add H3 tags for each question.
For example if you talk about the elements of a car engine, you would have to add one H3 tag for each of the elements.
What elements does the engine have (H2)
Element A – Explanation (H3)
Element B – Explanation (H3)
Element C – Explanation (H3)
Element D – Explanation (H3)
In this way you can perfectly structure your H2-H3 posts and not worry if you included each tag well enough.
Another great way of optimizing website for search engines would to check if your title is good enough.
Title analyser websites are the perfect tool to check if your title is well understood.
The more understandable one title is, the more clicks your will get and increase your CTR (Click Through Rate).
CapitalizeMyTitle is one of the best websites, having a title analyser tool, which can help you create engaging titles.
How to use CapitalizeMyTitle for optimizing my title and get better search engine results?
You just need to go to CapitalizeMyTitle and enter the title you would like to include in your website.
After clicking Analyze the website will give you a score of 0 to 100 points.
Being between 60 and 100 is perfect and enough understandable for even an 11 year old.
Now when you know how to optimize your website for search engines, you should keep in mind one important thing, so you can continue ranking on search engines.
Optimizing your website will not give you results in a day or two.
You need to be patient and invest your time, or you will never see the results that were waiting to come out.
